When Carl Lewis was training for the Olympic Games, the professionals said no person could jump more than thirty feet. Calculations and research had been done showing no one could ever jump that far.
Carl Lewis was asked by a reporter what his thought about it were. He responded, “Yes, I know the experts say it can’t be done, but I don’t listen to that kind of talk. Thoughts like that have a way of sinking into your feet.” Later that year he broke the world’s record jumping over thirty feet.
Are you allowing self-destructive thoughts and negativity to bring you down, to limit your potential? Why don’t you do what he did? Start hitting the delete button.
Delete what the cynics have told you. Delete the discouraging words. Who expressed to you that you can’t achieve your goals? Who proclaimed you that you will never be a success? Who told you you’re not tall enough, not smart enough, that you’ve attained your limits?
Be assured you that if you believe what others have said and labeled you, those inner thoughts will destroy your self-confidence and self-awareness. Don’t allow what anyone has said about you to hold you back. Start rebuilding your mind. Throughout the day make your self-talk positive.
Distorted beliefs that have held you back for years will no longer have any effect on you. As Joshua was assured, you will have good success and prosper in everything you do.
People are constantly putting labels on us telling us what we can and cannot do. The only power that a label has over you is the power that you give it.
Whatever label you’re wearing, you’re going to become what that label says.
1. Remove any negative labels that are holding you back. PEOPLE DON’T DETERMINE YOUR DESTINY.
2. If you remove it, quit thinking about it, quit acting like it’s the truth, then that label will have no effect on you.
